The summer toboggan ride is an activity suitable for almost everyone – fun, relaxing and just the right amount of thrilling. Many visitors quickly realise that one ride is not enough… you’ll want to go again and again.
Rättvik’s summer toboggan is Europe’s longest parallel summer toboggan track. From the top of Tålåsberget, two parallel tracks, each 725 metres long, take you down the slope. You decide the speed – enjoy a calm ride while taking in the breathtaking views, or race side by side with friends and family.
With stunning views over Lake Siljan in the heart of Dalarna, the experience is as scenic as it is exciting. The toboggans are fitted with wheels and are pulled uphill by a lift, allowing you to relax and enjoy the surroundings before the descent begins.
Speed is controlled using a lever, and the toboggans are self-braking, meaning they can never run away on their own. This makes the activity safe and accessible for all ages. Young children ride together with an adult on a double toboggan, while thrill-seekers can compete in the parallel tracks.
For higher speeds, some practice and technique are required – and falling over at first is quite normal, just like downhill skiing. Simply get back on and continue the ride.
Durable clothing is recommended, and it’s best to avoid sleeveless tops, shorts or skirts.
