Join a waffle hike at Styggforsen, a unique outdoor experience combining scenic hiking, fascinating geology, local history and freshly made waffles cooked over an open fire.
The hike takes you to Styggforsen Nature Reserve, a remarkable area deep in the forest where the Ice Age carved a dramatic gorge through the rock. Along the steep cliff walls, you can clearly see traces of a meteorite impact that occurred around 377 million years ago, making this a truly special place to explore.
At Styggforsen, water plunges down the rock face to form an impressive 36-metre-high waterfall. The dramatic surroundings have inspired legends for centuries – stories tell of trolls and thieves living in the cave beneath the waterfall, and according to folklore, giants once ruled the surrounding forests. The area has also played an important role in local industry over the centuries.
Halfway through the hike, the group stops for a break where waffles are prepared over a campfire, offering a moment to relax, enjoy the forest atmosphere and share a memorable experience together.
